Remained Joint Secretary, State ABVP, 1986; Organizing Secretary, ABVP (J and K), 1989-90; State Secretary, Bhartiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha, 1993-95; President: State Bhartiya Janata Party Yuva Morcha,ii) B.J.P. District Mandi, and State Bhartiya Janata Party since January, 2007.
Elected to State Legislative Assembly in 1998; and re-elected to the Assembly in 2003. Remained Chairman, General Development Committee and Education Committee; and Vice-Chairman, State Civil Supplies Corporation Ltd.
Elected to the House for a third term in December 2007; presently Chairman, Rural Planning Committee besides being Member of various other House Committees.Inducted into Council of Ministers on 09-07-2009 as Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister.
