  • Son  of  Late Shri Onkar Chand Sharma; born on 9th October, 1962; Post Graduate Diploma in Public Relations and Advt. & M.Sc. (Mathematics); married to Prof. Simmi Agnihotri; one daughter; Journalist.

    Senior Correspondent, ‘Janasatta’ (Indian Express Group) for ten years  at  Shimla and  three years at Delhi; Member :  Press Accreditation Committee (H.P. Govt.),  ii) State Press Advisory Committee, iii) Press Gallery Committee State Legislative Assembly, and iv)  Govt. Pahari Language Committee;  General Secretary: i)Press Club, Shimla ii) PCC; and Chairman, Media Cell PCC.

    Elected to State Legislative Assembly in March, 2003; re-elected in 2007 from Santokhgarh Assembly Constituency and in 2012 from Haroli Assembly constituency. Before delimitation in 2007, Haroli Assembly segment was known as Santokhgarh.

    Remained Chief Parliamentary Secretary and Chairman, Housing  Board,  March, 2003 to  18th August, 2005; Member, Subordinate Legislation, General Development, Public Accounts and Human Development Committees during 2008-2012; and Industry Minister with additional charge of Labour & Employment, Parliamentary Affairs, Information & Public Relations from    25th  December, 2012 to 20th December, 2017.

    Re-elected to the thirteenth Vidhan Sabha (4th term) December, 2017; elected Congress Legislature Party Leader on 4th January, 2018; and nominated as Member Business Advisory Committee.

    Favorite Pastime: Writing, reading, listening to music and playing badminton.

    Awards: Recipient of the ‘best coverage award for reporting Assembly proceedings during the year, 1994-95.
