  • Son of Late Shri Pyare Lal; born on 16th April, 1954 at Deothi (Rampur Bushahr), Distt. Shimla; M.A. (Political Science), educated at Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla; married to Smt. Satya; one son; Political and Social worker.

                   After training from I.T.B.P. Academy inducted into Commando Contingent, (I.T.B.P.); sought voluntary retirement from Central Govt. Service in 2007; and joined Indian National Congress.

    Elected to the State Legislative Assembly in 2007; re-elected in 2012 & December, 2017; Chairman, Subordinate Legislation Committee, 2012-2014; Member, Privilege & Subordinate Legislation Committees, 2008-2013, Welfare Committee, 2013, Public Accounts & General Development Committees, 2013-2014; Chief Parliamentary Secretary, 13th May, 2013 - 20th December, 2017; and Member, Welfare & Rural Planning  Committees, 2018-2022.

    Elected for the fourth consecutive term in December, 2022; and nominated as Chairman, Welfare Committee and Member, Rural Planning & Ethics Committees.

    Special Interest: Interacting with the people of   border and remote areas.

    Favorite Pastime: Reading, horticulture, sports & cultural activities.

    Awards: i) Received letter of appreciation from the former Prime Ministers Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi and Late Shri Chander Shekhar, in recognition for distinguished outstanding services.

    ii) Recipient of 'President Police Medal for meritorious services' in 2001 and ' Presidenet Police Medal for distinguishes services for fighting against militancy and outstanding services.

    iii) Also felicitated by the Govt. of Arunchal Pradesh in appreciation for contribution to the security and development of the State.

    Other Information: Actively involved in the security arrangement to International events i.e. Asiad, 1982, ii) Non-Aligned Meet, 1983, and iii) Commonwealth Conference, 1984; Joined S.P.G., (for the security of the Prime Minister and Ex-Prime Ministers) in 1985 and remained  their  till 1997. Commanded ITBP Battalion in highly miltant infested areas of Jammu and Kashmir (twice).

         Under ‘Village Adoption Scheme’, Govt. of India undertook developmental works under Border Area Development Programme; worked also for inculcating a sense of security amongst the people of Jammu & Kashmir and Arunachal Pradesh.
